How to care for my rug
How do I clean my rug?
If your Zulucow Cowhide Rug gets dirty, wait for the dirt to dry; shake the rug and then brush or vacuum it in the direction of the hair.
What happens if it gets wet?
Soak up any liquid spills with a paper towel/tea-towel. With a damp cloth dipped in warm soapy water, gently dab the mark out. Try not to get the hide too wet as it is natural leather.
Does it lose hair over time?
It shouldn't do, although a minimal amount of shedding is unavoidable.
Your bag should look perfect if well cared for.

Sourcing & Materials
Sustainable sourcing
At Zulucow, sustainability isn’t a bolt-on; it’s the backbone of how we design, source and make our cowhide bags, belts and homeware accessories.
All our Nguni cowhide pieces are created from a by-product. We do not believe in farming for fashion.
Ethical labor
When you buy a Zulucow product, you are not only purchasing a beautiful, utterly unique, lovingly handmade item. You are also helping to create desperately needed, sustainable jobs. You are helping Zulu women to survive; to put food on the table.
Transparent values
Unlike fast-fashion factories where goods are mass-produced with piece-work. We teach our artisans to make the entire product; so they become empowered and and financially liberated; with a sense of prided and hope for the future.
