Looking to freshen up your home interiors for Spring 2022? Look no further! I’ve put together 4 ways you can easily inject new colours, textures and life into your home this spring.

As David Hicks ( Interior Designer ) once said ‘”The best rooms have something to say about the people who live in them.”

1. Update your Springtime Accessories

Updating accessories such as new cushions or a doorstop is a great (and cost-effective) way to make your home feel like new. Re-vitalize your home by swapping some of your soft furnishings – whether it be by adding a new Spring colour or a new pattern; either will update the look of your home instantly.

2. Add new Artwork

Artwork in any form is an easy way to make your home feel refreshed. Replacing old art, or finding the perfect spot for your new artwork is so much fun and the possibilities are endless. I love statement pieces and something with a story which is why we have introduced the Feather Juju Hats to our new collection.

Glorious Cameroon Feather Juju Hats – statement pieces of art

From the Cameroon, the opulent feather Juju Hats are a symbol of prosperity and wealth. They were traditionally worn as head-dresses in royal ceremonies and are believed to have a symbolic meaning of freedom and abundance.  More recently they’ve evolved into gorgeous pieces of wall art.

3. Invest in a Statement Piece

Nothing heralds spring more than a home ‘refresh’ and that’s why it’s the perfect time to take the plunge and invest in a statement piece. Have you had your eye on something extra special recently and now think it’s the right time? What better time to refresh and renew the look of your home?

Our ultimate spring refresh piece could be one of our sustainable cowhide rugs or perhaps even a bespoke, Zulucow cowhide ottoman (made in Britain by hand)

4. Embrace the Spring Weather, Inside and Outside!

Spring promises the return of beautiful sun-drenched (hopefully)evenings and warmer weekends, so why not make the most of your precious time outdoors and inject some outdoor style inside and outside.

Bring the outdoors inside by using fresh flowers and greenery wherever you can. One of my favourite ways to add spring into my kitchen is by adding a beautiful bouquet of flowers each week but you can also opt for faux flowers that last all year and don’t need watering! My favourite place to pick up fake flowers is BLOOM – they have a wide variety of arrangements and single stems so you can mix it up!

I also like to take the indoors outside during spring and you can refresh your garden decor by adding in pops of colours or patterns such as our cowhide cushions as seen below.

Everything at Zulucow is sustainably sourced and ethically produced by our team of talented Zulu ladies. Every piece you buy has a rich history and story behind it; from the provenance of the cowhide rugs to the fact that you are empowering women today and enabling them to develop long term skills to support themselves and their extended families (and often communities too!) which to me makes it even more special, would you agree?
